Herc-U-Lift

Mobile Base Project:  Installing the Herc-U-Lift on a Delta Contractor Saw I have Delta contractor saw (36-650), and a fairly small shop.  So I needed to mobilize.  I chose the Herc-U-Lift Plus because I liked the design, and also because they were clearing them out at Home Depot (about $50). I really do like the design: a simple one-foot movement lifts and mobilizes the saw, and when the lift is released the saw rests on its own feet.

One consideration was that the front cross brace on the legs of the Delta blocked the foot pedal. So I just removed it. I originally intended to install a shorter cross brace higher up, but I really don’t think it would matter.

Lowered position: here you can see where I drilled the extra holes in the legs to mount the lift.

This worked great - the only thing I didn’t like initially was that you had to “jiggle” it a bit to get it to settle down into the lowered position. I have since discovered that the spring that is included in the kit is mandatory for proper functioning (just like the instructions said!).

Here it is after I finally installed the spring — works MUCH better that way!
