This is basically the layout of my shop. It was created using Grizzly’s free online Workshop Planner.

Once again, I have made a few changes since this layout was designed. I will update the layout as time allows. In planning the layout, I tried to arrange tools with some sort of attention to workflow. One of the first things I put in the shop was a lumber rack, to get what little lumber I have up off the concrete floor. I put the lumber rack near the garage door opening, for easy loading.
I kept the jointer & planer and table saw near the garage-door end of the shop as well. This leaves me some available floor space in the middle, and if I need to work with long stock I can just open the garage door and step outside.
The compound miter saw and benchtop hollow chisel mortiser are on a split-level style cabinet/bench, so both tools use the same left- & right-hand side supports (and fence, if I ever get around to making that!). The drill press and band saw are on that same wall as well.
I added some shop cabinets along the way for some more much-needed storage space and another good work surface. The dust collector and trash-can separator are closed in an insulated closet, to help keep the noise down some.
The lathe fits in a space between the lumber rack and the shop cabinets.
I have a clamp rack to organize my clamps near the “assembly area” in the back of the shop. Future updates include the workbench and probably an assembly/finish table if I still have the room for it.
